Airbus Training Symposium 11 Dec -13 Dec 2012, Dubai - Presentation of Holger Beck

Technical Presentation "From Maps to Apps; From Books to Nooks?"
from Holger Beck, Chief Commercial Officer at Lufthansa Technical Training

The presentation deals with the impact of apps and other technical "gadgets" that simplify our daily lives and are hard to imagine doing without nowadays. Are there any disadvantages to these gadgets? Do we have to gear our training methods to them? What are the costs involved, or can I even reduce my qualification costs as a result? Holger Beck encourages contemplation of these issues.

Training – spanning the generations

02/2012: "The Super Star project is probably one of the most unusual projects I have ever encountered in my 36-year career at Lufthansa," says Thomas Bund, Project Manager New Aircraft Types & Technologies at Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT).

Developing the training program for a historic aircraft built in 1957 means reactivating "forgotten" expertise from the 1950s that is no longer required in the normal everyday working life of the 21st century. The computer technology and composite materials of modern times were as yet unknown when the Super Star was being developed. As a result, rather than carbon fiber composites and fly-by-wire flight controls, it is aluminum alloys and mechanical systems that predominate in the Lockheed L-1649A.

MRO Middle East, 31 January – 02 February 2012: "Best Practice in Training"

Holger Beck, Chief Commercial Officer at Lufthansa Technical Training, hosted the workshop "Best Practice in Training" in the course of the conference program at the MRO Middle East. The fact that in the Middle East alone, about 50,000 additional qualified personnel are needed in the aviation industry in the next 20 years served as the starting point of the workshop.

In this regard, Holger Beck presented solutions to representatives from the aviation industry and MRO organizations concerning the promotion of young staff and best practice experiences to meet personnel demands. Intensive discussions were held on how these solutions apply to the requirements of the Middle East and how they could be implemented in this region.

In this context, one main topic dealt with the necessity to adapt the contents of the academic training specifically to the personnel demands of EASA Part-145 organizations and the connection to EASA Part-147 training organizations.

As further Lufthansa Technical Training representative, Thorsten Riekert, Head of Sales at LTT, attended the MRO Middle East as well.
