LTT and Minas Gerais Agree on Cooperation
Consultation services for aeronautical training concept in Brazil
Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT) and the government of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais signed a long-term cooperation concerning the development of the aeronautical industry in Minas Gerais as well as setting up an aviation cluster in the state capital Belo Horizonte. A corresponding Memorandum of Understanding was signed recently in Belo Horizonte by Sergio Barroso, the Minas Gerais State Minister of Economic Development, and Christoph Meyerrose, the LTT Chief Executive Officer.
Christoph Meyerrose, LTT Chief Executive Officer:
"We are very looking forward to cooperating with the government of Minas Gerais. It is not very well known in Europe that the area of Belo Horizonte already is significant for the Brazilian aviation industry and, unlike a lot of other Brazilian metropolitan cities, displays a big expansion potential. All facets of an aviation cluster come together here: the production of aircraft and components, maintenance and overhaul as well as the significantly increasing airline operations. The government views the significance of aeronautics for Minas Gerais in two different ways. As potential future industry and also as important factor for the improvement and economic development of the state. Minas Gerais with an area of approximately 588,000 square kilometers is about 1.6 times as big as Germany."
As a first step, the LTT will consult the Minas Gerais government in matters concerning the conceptual revision of state programs about aeronautical training as well as procurement of necessary training resources. Besides adapting local training standards to international training standards for aeronautical personnel, the focus lies on the increased integration of practice into the training process.
To realize that plan, Minas Gerais acquires LTT training documents and learning software which meets the requirements and regulations of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The LTT additionally qualifies local vocational school teachers to implement the new programs in the future. Here, the training personnel will be familiarized with LTT's quality requirements and standards.
Oliver Pape, Director Business Development and Projects (LTT):
"The availability of competent personnel is a key factor for reaching economic goals. The government has recognized this and relies on LTT's know-how and experience. Especially our practice-oriented training concepts are highly rated. Our extensive product portfolio offer solutions for the manifold requirements in Minas Gerais."
