LTT and SGI Aviation offer SAFA-Training

First training courses will be implemented later this year

Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT) and the Dutch company SGI Aviation have signed a contract in November on the joint marketing and implementation of SAFA-training courses (Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircrafts) - in particular in the German-speaking market.
Klaus Schmidt-Klyk, Vize President Marketing, Sales & Business Development (LTT):

"This cooperation with the renowned partner SGI enables LTT to enhance its portfolio and is offering - beyond SAFA related courses - an excellent chance to further develop in the important market segment of Safety Management Systems".

In SAFA-training courses, representatives of European aviation authorities are qualified to inspect the technical condition of Non-EU-aircraft, the qualification of their crew and the documentation. For this purpose, they have to complete theoretical and practical training contents as future inspectors. SGI has many years of expertise in this field, which is supplemented by the training infrastructure and the program organization of LTT. In the course of the cooperation, LTT trainers are supposed to implement training courses as well.

The first training course of the cooperation will be implemented later this year in Bremen. For 2010, additional training courses are planned – probably in March in Erfurt and in September in Munich. The demand for SAFA-training courses will grow all over the world, since Non-EU-countries such as Canada, Brasil or South Africa will as well follow the EASA-standards. Using additional SGI-programs, inspectors can be qualified with regard to the characteristics of aircraft of Eastern European (CIS) design. Dates and venues for this will be published soon.
