Initiative Qblue

Future-oriented training at the aviation hub in Hamburg

With over 40,000 employees, Hamburg is the third-largest civil aviation hub worldwide. The Qblue initiative aims to establish a training network for the aviation industry in the Hamburg metropolitan region. Various companies and industry associations are joining forces under this initiative to build a strong training network within Hamburg's aviation sector. In close cooperation with Lufthansa Technical Training and other educational providers, small and medium-sized enterprises, local aviation corporations, social partners, and other stakeholders in the education sector of the Hamburg metropolitan region, the initiative seeks to develop extensive expertise in qualification topics for the location. The initiative primarily focuses on adapting the existing educational offerings to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the aviation supply industry. For example, a comprehensive package of measures, including the development of a training platform and aviation-specific training programs for professionals from non-aviation fields, was implemented with the participation of Lufthansa Technical Training. On October 7th, the pilot training was successfully conducted at the Hamburg Centre of Aviation Training-Lab (HCAT).
